What Are Nootropics?
Think of nootropics as software upgrades for your brain. Just as you might upgrade your smartphone's software to run faster and more efficiently, nootropics work to optimize your cognitive functions. They're like patches and upgrades that can sharpen focus, enhance memory, and boost mental processing speed — depending on the compound. In the same way the best programmers in the world work on your phone's software to make it work best, nootropics work on your brain to ensure it's operating exactly the way you'd like. In other words, nootropics give you the ability to customize your brain's performance settings. Maybe you need to enhance memory retention when cramming for a test, maybe you have a project due but you can't muster the mental endurance to push through, maybe you have a long list of chores that you keep putting off, or maybe you just aren't feeling it one day and would like to enter a flow-state on demand. In all of these cases, the right combination of nootropics — by optimizing certain neurotransmitters to create a desirable state — can put you in the right headspace to meet your needs.
With that being said, there are a wide variety of nootropic compounds. Some are amino acids that act as precursors for essential neurotransmitters, others are adaptogens extracted from natural sources that have been used for thousands of years. Some are more effective than others, and they all differ in the specific benefits they bring. Some support memory and longevity, others support creativity, and others deliver a strong boost in your mood and focus. But in every case, the ideal amount of each compound, in the best combination with others, is essential to your results. That's where our formulas come in. We've designed our products to have the most optimal formulas, at the most favorable price. Genius Potion provides a synthesis between GABAergic, dopaminergic, and cholinergic compounds, and caffeine, to provide a rush of energy, focus, and attention, with no crash or jitters. Brain Power provides a combination of the most well-regarded mushrooms and herbs, at full strength, to give the user a boost in memory, creativity, mental endurance, and some longevity benefits as well. Genius Potion Ingredient Breakdown
The Science Behind It: L-Theanine is an amino acid primarily found in tea leaves that modulates brain waves, increasing alpha waves, which are associated with relaxed focus. It works synergistically with caffeine to enhance cognitive performance without the unwanted side effects like jitteriness. It promotes a calm alertness by influencing neurotransmitter pathways, including serotonin and dopamine, improving mood and reducing anxiety without sedation.
How It Will Make You Feel: Imagine a wave of calm washing over your mind, easing tension without slowing you down. With L-Theanine, you’ll feel like you’re entering a "flow state" where stress melts away, leaving you laser-focused yet relaxed. Whether it’s preparing for a high-stakes presentation or unwinding at night, L-Theanine helps you stay in control. Your nerves are smoothed out, allowing you to think clearly and perform at your best. It’s a calming mental clarity that doesn’t dull your edge—it sharpens it.
Key Studies:
- A double-blind, placebo-controlled study, tested mental performance post-L-Theanine supplementation on subjects aged 50-69. Subjects took one capsule of 100 MG per day of placebo or L-Theanine for 12 weeks. The study found that L-Theanine “increased the number of correct answers and decreased the number of omission errors in working memory tasks”. The conclusion of the study was that “L-Theanine may contribute to improving attention, thus enhancing working memory and executive functions” While this study showed results with 100 MG of L-Theanine, Genius Potion has 400 MG!
- A systematic review of randomized controlled trials from peer-reviewed journals assessed the effect of L-Theanine supplementation on stress and anxiety levels. The findings of four studies indicated significant improvements in reducing stress and anxiety (p < 0.05) with L-Theanine supplementation in healthy adults.
The Science Behind It: L-Tyrosine is a precursor to dopamine, a key neurotransmitter involved in motivation, focus, and reward. It enhances cognitive flexibility and performance, particularly under stress or cognitive strain. When L-Tyrosine is consumed, it increases dopamine production, fueling mental endurance and motivation to tackle complex tasks or stay productive even in challenging environments.
How It Will Make You Feel: On L-Tyrosine, you’re in the zone, with your mind firing on all cylinders. Picture a "laser-sharp" focus, where everything clicks into place, and you have the energy and clarity to execute tasks effortlessly. When stress is high, instead of crumbling under pressure, you rise to the occasion, feeling mentally agile, sharp, and unstoppable. You don’t just work; you work with enthusiasm and efficiency.
Key Studies:
- One placebo-controlled study tested the effect of L-Tyrosine supplementation on cognitive tests— one part being easy, the other more difficult. The L-Tyrosine group significantly outperformed placebo on the tougher portion, leading the researchers to confirm their theory that L-Tyrosine increases cognition when cognitive demand increases.
- This study aimed to examine the effects of Tyrosine on stress during an episode of continuous nighttime work with one night's sleep loss. The subjects performed a battery of performance tasks and mood scales for about 13 hours, without sleeping. Half of the subjects received 150 mg/kg of Tyrosine six hours after the experiment began, while the other half received a placebo. The results showed that Tyrosine administration improved performance on a psychomotor task and reduced the probability of lapses on a vigilance task. The study suggests that Tyrosine may help prevent performance declines during sustained work and sleep deprivation.
The Science Behind It: Alpha-GPC is the most potent form of choline, which boosts the neurotransmitter acetylcholine, crucial for memory and learning. It crosses the blood-brain barrier, making it effective for immediate cognitive enhancement. Alpha-GPC is especially valuable for maintaining long-term cognitive health and improving memory recall, making it a powerful ally for both immediate tasks and future brain health.
How It Will Make You Feel: Alpha-GPC gives you a feeling of mental "vividness," as if everything in your mind is coming into sharper focus. Imagine your memory improving so you can recall facts faster, and your concentration deepening for complex problem-solving. You’ll feel mentally energized, clear-headed, and more confident in your cognitive abilities, whether you’re learning something new or recalling detailed information.
Key Studies:
- Thirteen clinical trials involving 4054 patients were evaluated, and the results showed that Alpha-GPC significantly improved cognitive symptoms such as memory and attention in patients with degenerative, vascular, or combined dementia disorders. The supplement was found to be superior or equivalent to reference drugs and placebos, and its utility in relieving cognitive symptoms differentiates it from other cholinergic drugs.
- One double-blind, randomized, placebo-controlled trial, took 261 patients affected by mild to moderate dementia of the Alzheimer and gave them either Alpha-GPC or a placebo for 180 days, then measured performance with six tests commonly used to assess cognitive impairment. In every metric, the patients receiving Alpha-GPC showed significant improvement compared to placebo. The study concluded- “The results of this study suggest the clinical usefulness and tolerability of [Alpha-GPC] in the treatment of the cognitive symptoms of dementia disorders of the Alzheimer type.”
The Science Behind It: DL-Phenylalanine is a blend of L-Phenylalanine and D-Phenylalanine. The L-form boosts dopamine production, enhancing mood, motivation, and focus, while the D-form helps alleviate discomfort and increases pain tolerance by preventing the breakdown of enkephalins, the body’s natural painkillers. Together, they support both cognitive function and emotional well-being.
How It Will Make You Feel: DL-Phenylalanine is like an emotional and mental reset button. You’ll experience a euphoric "glow," where stress feels distant, and your mind and mood are uplifted. Think of it as entering a space of heightened positivity and motivation—where tasks that once felt burdensome now feel enjoyable. It’s like having a mental and emotional buffer that keeps you feeling upbeat, motivated, and ready to tackle anything.
Key Studies:
- 20 clinically depressed patients were given 75-200 mg/day of DL-Phenylalanine for 20 days. 16 of the 20 had positive responses and improved their condition, so much so that 12 were discharged with no further treatment. The study concluded that DL-Phenylalanine may have substantial antidepressant properties.
- 23 depressed subjects were given DL-Phenylalanine after unsuccessful treatment with common antidepressants. Subjects received 50 or 100 mg during 15 days. A complete euthymia (stable, good mood) was obtained in 17 subjects between one and 13 days of treatment.
- While these two studies showed positive results with 50-200 MG of DL-Phenylalanine, Genius Potion has 1,000 MG!
The Science Behind It: Huperzine-A works by inhibiting acetylcholinesterase, the enzyme that breaks down acetylcholine, allowing for more prolonged cognitive enhancement and memory retention. It’s widely studied for its potential in protecting the brain from neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer’s, making it a potent tool for both cognitive sharpness and long-term brain health.
How It Will Make You Feel: Huperzine-A is your mental amplifier, turning up the dial on focus and memory retention. Imagine your thoughts flowing effortlessly, like your mind has extra RAM to process complex information without fatigue. It’s perfect for deep work or when you need to stay alert without physical jitteriness. With Huperzine-A, you’ll feel mentally sharp, deeply focused, and able to recall information as if it’s at your fingertips.
Key Studies:
- A meta-analysis covering six trials involving 454 patients, Huperzine A led to significant improvements in cognitive function tests and clinical assessments. It also showed positive effects on reducing behavioral problems and improving daily activities. Adverse effects associated with Huperzine-A were mild and similar to those experienced by the control groups. The study concluded Huperzine-A has the potential to enhance general cognitive function, global clinical status, behavioral disturbance, and functional performance in AD patients.
- A double-blind, placebo-controlled study took 34 pairs of students of similar cognitive abilities and demographics were separated into two groups- one receiving Huperzine-A (100 MCG), the other a placebo, for 4 weeks total. At the end of the trail, the students were given memory tests and learning tests, with the Huperzine-A group out-performing the placebo group. The study concluded, "The [Huperzine-A] capsules enhance the memory and learning performance of adolescent students." While this study showed promising results with 100 MCG of Huperzine-A, Genius Potion has 200 MCG!

Mental Endurance
Ever have an hour or two of sharp focus, and then lose your rhythm? Ever have a long day of school or work, and you can't help but just crash on the couch when you get home? If so, you're in luck, because our products solve exactly that problem!
Arguably, all 10 of the nootropics in Genius Potion + Brain Power have a positive effect on mental endurance. Supplements like Huperzine-A, which inhibits the breakdown of acetylcholine, are known to be great for combating mental fatigue. L-Tyrosine, which increases dopamine in the brain, is also to known to be an enemy of mental fatigue, and brain fog in general. One study tested Tyrosine effects during an episode of continuous nighttime work involving one night's sleep loss and concluded: tyrosine may prove useful in counteracting performance decrements during episodes of sustained work coupled with sleep loss.

Increased Learning Rate
A double-blind, placebo-controlled study tested Lion's Mane on subjects with minor cognitive impairment. The participants took 3,000 mg of Lion's Mane daily for 16 weeks, showing significant improvement in cognitive scores as usage continued. However, scores decreased significantly four weeks after stopping the supplement, highlighting its potential in improving memory during usage.
One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study took 60 medical students, giving them either 300 MG of Bacopa or placebo for 6 weeks. Baseline biochemical and memory tests were completed prior to the 6 weeks, and repeated after. The study concluded “Statistically significant improvement was seen in the tests relating to the cognitive functions with use of Bacopa monnieri.”

Superhuman Memory
A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study involved 98 healthy older subjects who received either 300 mg/day of Bacopa or a placebo. Neuropsychological and memory assessments at baseline and after 12 weeks showed that Bacopa significantly improved verbal learning, memory acquisition, and delayed recall.
One double-blind, placebo-controlled study gave 107 healthy participants 300 mg of Bacopa Monnieri extract for 90 days. Those who took B. Monnieri extract showed significant improvement in spatial memory, memory accuracy and their ability to process visual information compared to placebo.

Euphoric Mood Boost
You can't always be in your best mood... except with Genius Potion, you actually can! With 1,000 MG of DL-Phenylalanine (DLPA), we target multiple neurotransmitters that are associated with anti-depression activity.
According to one study, "dl-phenylalanine in doses from 75--200 mg/day was administered to 20 depressed patients for 20 days...It is concluded that dl-phenylalanine might have substantial antidepressant properties..."
A separate study took 23 subjects with depression after a previous unsuccessful treatment with common antidepressive drugs and gave them DL-Phenylalanine at 100 MG for 15 days. Out of the 23 subjects, 17 were fully cured at or before day 13!
Additionally, L-Theanine, Lion's Mane, Rhodiola Rosea, and L-Tyrosine all have mood-boosting properties. Genius Potion and Brain Power will put you in the right mood to conquer the day!

Flow State Productivity
You know that feeling where everything is just clicking? When you are just firing on all cylinders and you don't even realize how much time has passed by, you just know that you are in the zone. That's called a flow state.
L-Theanine has a unique ability to boost certain brain waves that allow you lock-in on specific tasks by taking away the stress and distractions. Specifically, it has been said: "L-theanine significantly increases activity in the alpha frequency band which indicates that it relaxes the mind without inducing drowsiness."
A double-blind, placebo-controlled study gave subjects 100 MG of L-Theanine or placebo for 12 weeks daily. The study found that L-Theanine “increased the number of correct answers and decreased the number of omission errors in working memory tasks”. The study concluded that “L-Theanine may contribute to improving attention, thus enhancing working memory and executive functions” The study yielded these results with only 100 MG of L-Theanine, while Genius Potion has 400 MG!

Laser Sharp Focus
Some days you have a big giant "To Do List", but you just can't get in the mindset to start. It's almost like you'd rather be doing anything else... but you know you need to find a way to get your stuff done. On those days, our products are your best friend! Not only will you be able to lock in and focus on your tasks, but you will have a cognitive boost to perform stronger.
Genius Potion contains 2,000 MG of L-Tyrosine, which gives you more than enough of a focus boost to power through your tasks. One study tested L-Tyrosine effects on a cognitive test that tests working memory and attentional control (similar to the game Dual N-Back). On the harder portions of the test, L-Tyrosine proved to be effective. The study concluded: "our findings suggest that the supplementation of [L-Tyrosine] may promote cognitive enhancement in inexpensive, efficient, and healthy ways"
Too many nootropic supplements fall flat because their formulas are underdosed. The label lists impressive ingredients, but not in amounts that actually work — so users feel nothing. We built our products to end the "underdosing" problem. Every compound is included at research-backed, effective levels, averaging 5× the dosage of competing brands — yet at a fraction of the price. You won’t have to guess whether they’re working; you’ll feel the difference. Check the head-to-head comparisons below.

- One double-blind, placebo-controlled, matched pair study gave 68 students, who had previously complained of poor memory, 200 MCG of Huperzine-A or a placebo every day for 4 weeks. Students taking Huperzine‑A improved their Chinese test scores by about 18.6% (a full letter grade), while the placebo group improved by only 2.9%. In other words, the Huperzine‑A group’s percentage gain was over 6x greater than that of the placebo group. On the Memory Quotient test, the students taking Huperzine-A improved their score by 25% from baseline, more than double the placebo group. The study claimed that Huperzine-A “increased the scores of ‘accumulation’, ‘recognition’, ‘reproduction’, ‘association’, ‘tactual memory’, and ‘number of recitation’." The paper concluded that Huperzine-A “obviously improved the memory function of adolescent students,” and that "The [Huperzine-A] capsules enhance the memory and learning performance of adolescent students." The study recorded this drastic increase in memory and test scores among the students from 200 MCG of Huperzine-A, the same amount in one Genius Potion serving.
- One randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled clinical trial randomly allocated either 300 MG/day of a standardized Bacopa monnieri extract (BacoMind™) or identical‑looking placebo tablets to 98 healthy adults, with both volunteers and outcome assessors blinded for a full 12 weeks. The study assessed results with Rey Auditory Verbal Learning Test (AVLT) for verbal learning and delayed recall, plus Rey‑Osterrieth Complex Figure, Trail‑Making, and a subjective memory questionnaire. The Bacopa group showed statistically significant gains in verbal learning, total learning, and delayed recall on the AVLT compared with placebo after 12 weeks; or as the authors put it, "Bacopa significantly improved verbal learning, memory acquisition, and delayed recall." The study concluded that "Bacopa significantly improved memory acquisition and retention." While this study achieved impressive results with 300 MG of Bacopa monnieri (BacoMind™), Brain Power has 400 MG of Bacopa monnieri!
- One double-blind trial tested 300 MG of Bacopa monnieri (B-Lit®) against a placebo. The study took 74 healthy adults and gave them either a Bacopa capsule or a look-alike placebo for 12 weeks. By the end of the trial, Bacopa out-performed placebo on several mental tasks: mental flexibility (a 3-D rotations puzzle) improved about 150% more than placebo; focused attention (the “Double Trouble” test) rose roughly 75% more; rapid pattern matching jumped about 280% more; and short-term verbal memory soared ≈1,300 % more. Blood chemistry echoed these changes: the stress hormone cortisol fell while it inched upward on placebo, and brain-derived neurotrophic factor (BDNF) — a protein linked to learning, plasticity, and creativity — rose as it slipped in controls. In short: three months of B-Lit® sharpened several thinking skills by one-and-a-half to three times more than practice alone, lowered stress hormones, and boosted a brain-plasticity protein, all with minimal side-effects. While the study found positive results using 300 MG of (a patented form of) Bacopa, Brain Power uses 400 MG!
- One double-blind, placebo-controlled, crossover study titled "Food for creativity: tyrosine promotes deep thinking" investigated whether L-Tyrosine promotes creativity. 32 healthy students were given a drink that either contained 2,000 MG of L-Tyrosine or a similar drink with no L-Tyrosine for a placebo, then performed creativity tasks. On the Remote Associates Test — a “deep-thinking” puzzle that taps convergent reasoning — they solved about one extra problem, a ~25% boost over placebo. The study concluded: "this finding suggests that [L-Tyrosine] can facilitate control-hungry creative operations." These results were recorded at a dosage of 2,000 MG, the same as Genius Potion!
- One double-blind, placebo-controlled study tested the effects of L-Tyrosine on 21 military cadets across six days of strenuous mental and physical exercise. Cadets received a drink that contained either L-Tyrosine or placebo (controlled for calories). Those who received the L-Tyrosine drink performed "significantly" better than placebo on two thinking tests: they got more answers right on a quick‑memory quiz and kept a moving cursor closer to its target during a hand‑eye‑tracking task. The study concluded: “supplementation with tyrosine may, under operational circumstances characterized by psychosocial and physical stress, reduce the effects of stress and fatigue on cognitive task performance.”
- One randomized, double‑blind, placebo-controlled trial, 161 young, healthy military cadets were given either a single dose of Rhodiola Rosea extract or a look‑alike placebo just before a long series of proofreading, math‑drill, and reaction‑time tasks, while already fatigued. Across the multi‑hour test, the placebo group’s accuracy slid, but Rhodiola‑takers barely faded: their average Anti‑Fatigue Index (AFI) was ~1.03 versus 0.90 on placebo —about a 15% “mental battery” advantage. According to the authors, the study showed Rhodiola Rosea had a "pronounced antifatigue effect."
- In a 12‑week randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled trial, Japanese researchers gave 31 healthy adults aged 50 + either four daily capsules of powdered Lion’s Mane mushroom (Hericium erinaceus) or an identical placebo. At the end of the study, the Lion’s Mane group scored higher on the Mini‑Mental State Examination (MMSE), a simple memory‑and‑attention test. As the authors put it: “MMSE alone showed that oral intake of [Lion's Mane] significantly improved cognitive functions and prevented from the deterioration.” They conclude that the mushroom’s nerve‑growth‑factor–stimulating compounds make supplementation “a safe and convenient method for dementia prevention so far,” hinting that regular use may help keep brain cells healthier for longer and gently slow the normal slide of age‑related thinking skills.
- In a retrospective review, neurosurgeons followed 187 adults with newly diagnosed glioblastoma (the fastest-growing, deadliest brain cancer). Everyone had surgery plus chemoradiation, yet only a subset kept taking prescription Alpha‑GPC for a full year. Those long‑term users lived a median 38 months, versus 24 months for patients who stopped earlier, and even after adjusting for age, tumor site, surgery quality, and key gene markers, taking Alpha-GPC for a longer time still translated into a 47% lower risk of death. As the authors summed up, “long‑term GPC use was significantly associated with prolonged survival in GBM patients.” They propose that steady Alpha‑GPC supplies choline for membrane repair and healthy acetylcholine signaling, helping the brain stay more resilient to treatment stress — an effect that may give patients a meaningful longevity edge even in this otherwise lethal cancer.
- One randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled trial tested whether a single 100.6 mg dose of L‑Theanine could sharpen attentional performance. 50 adults took either L‑theanine or a matched placebo, then completed the Cognitrax battery 50 minutes later. The final analysis comprised 24 subjects in the placebo group and 26 in the theanine group. According to the study, “the single dose of l‑theanine reduced the reaction time to attention tasks (Stroop test, Part 1)”, and “ST (Part 1) reaction times were significantly lower in the theanine group than in the placebo group. Therefore, a single dose of l‑theanine was sufficient to improve attention.” At the same time, researchers noted that “after single dose ingestion, l‑theanine affected the quality of working memory, producing shorter reaction times and more correct answers”—overall, “a single dose of l‑theanine reduced reaction time … and increased correct answers and decreased omission errors in the working‑memory task.” They concluded that L‑theanine “may contribute to improving attention, thus enhancing working memory and executive functions.” The study recorded these results at a dosage of 100 MG, while Genius Potion includes 400 MG!
-
One double-blind, placebo-controlled trial gave 46 healthy adults either 300 MG of a standardized Bacopa extract (Keenmind) or a matching placebo each morning for 12 weeks. Neuropsychological testing was conducted before the study and weeks 5 and 12. The study found that Bacopa “significantly improved speed of visual information processing... learning rate and memory consolidation,” with the largest gains emerging at week 12. In other words, the group taking Bacopa showed faster perceptual‑processing speed and had an improved total mental‑performance score relative to placebo. The study concluded "that B. monniera may improve higher order cognitive processes that are critically dependent on the input of information from our environment such as learning and memory." While the study found such results with 300 MG of Bacopa (albeit a standardized extract), Brain Power has 400 MG!
- One double‑blind, placebo-controlled, cross‑over study gave 56 night‑shift physicians either one 170 MG tablet of standardized Rhodiola Rosea (SHR‑5) or a matching placebo every day for two‑week periods separated by a wash‑out period. Investigators combined five cognitive tests—covering associative thinking, short‑term memory, mental arithmetic, concentration, and audio‑visual reaction speed—into a composite “Fatigue Index.” During the Rhodiola phase, there was “a statistically significant improvement in these tests” versus placebo, with no side‑effects reported. The study concluded that the Rhodiola Rosea extract can reduce general fatigue under certain stressful conditions, allowing physicians to be more productive on the job, despite working into the night. The study found such results with 170 MG of Rhodiola Rosea (albeit a standardized extract), while Brain Power has 300 MG!
- One randomized, double‑blind, placebo‑controlled field trial gave 68 U.S. Navy SEAL candidates—kept awake, cold, and under continuous physical stress for 72 hours during “Hell Week”—a single capsule of 100 MG, 200 MG, or 300 MG of caffeine or placebo immediately after the deprivation period, then had them complete a battery of vigilance, reaction‑time, working‑memory, and marksmanship tasks 1 hour and 8 hours post‑dose. The authors found that “Caffeine (200 and 300 mg) significantly improved visual vigilance, choice reaction time, repeated acquisition, self‑reported fatigue and sleepiness, with the greatest effects on tests of vigilance, reaction time, and alertness.” Benefits were not fleeting: “The greatest effects of caffeine were present 1 h post‑administration, but significant effects persisted for 8 h,” and crucially, “marksmanship…was not affected by caffeine,” showing that fine‑motor accuracy was preserved. Genius Potion includes 250 MG of caffeine per serving!
- One randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study gave 61 adults either 240 MG of Ginkgo Biloba (EGb 761®) or placebo every day for 8 weeks. Investigators probed executive‑function domains linked to on‑the‑job productivity: cognitive flexibility (task‑switching), response inhibition (Go/No‑Go), prospective memory, working‑memory maintenance, and stress resilience (Trier Social Stress Test). The Ginkgo group delivered a 34% reduction in task‑switch costs; in the Go/No‑Go paradigm, they observed “a positive effect of [Ginkgo Biloba] on the speed–accuracy tradeoff.” The dosage was considered safe and well tolerated. In short, Ginkgo produced statistically robust improvements in task‑switch efficiency and a favorable speed‑accuracy profile in response inhibition. While this study recorded these results with 240 MG Ginkgo Biloba (EGb 761®), Brain Power includes 360 MG (albeit a different extract).
- One double-blind, placebo-controlled study gave 28 healthy men a single dose of 2,000 MG of L-Tyrosine or placebo. 75 minutes later the subjects tackled two demanding, work‑like decision tasks (a sequential reinforcement‑learning task and a temporal‑discounting task). Drift‑diffusion modelling showed the amino‑acid “consistently reduced participants’ [reaction times] without deteriorating task‑performance,” by lowering the decision threshold so choices were made faster yet just as accurately. The study recorded these results with the same amount of L-Tyrosine in a single serving of Genius Potion.
- One study gave 75-200 MG of DL-Phenyalalnine to 20 hospitalised patients with unipolar depression for 20 days. Mood and other symptoms were scored every few days with the Hamilton scale, a self‑rating checklist, and a psychiatrist’s global impression. 12 of the 20 patients (60%) achieved complete or near‑complete remission and were discharged without any further medication, while four others showed partial benefit. Core symptoms such as low mood and slowed thinking improved the most; sleep and anxiety also eased. As the authors put it, “It is concluded that DL‑phenylalanine might have substantial antidepressant properties.” The same researchers conducted a follow-up study some years later: 40 adults diagnosed with major depression were randomly assigned either DL‑phenylalanine (150–200 mg once a day), or the well‑known prescription antidepressant, imipramine, for 30 days. Throughout the month, clinicians tracked mood with the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale and two self‑report questionnaires. By the end of the trial, 27 participants had completed all visits, and the average drop in depression scores was almost identical in the two groups — about a 60 percent improvement from baseline. In other words, at this very modest dose, DL-Phenylalanine lifted mood just as effectively as a prescription drug that treats depression. While both studies achieved great results with a maximum dose of 200 MG, Genius Potion contains 1,000 MG per serving!
- In one randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study, 30 healthy women were given four cookies a day for four weeks; half of those cookies were laced with powdered Hericium erinaceus (Lion’s Mane), 2,000 MG per day, while the other half were identical‑looking placebo cookies. Researchers measured the subjects feelings before and after the trial. By the end of the trial, the group taking the Lion's Mane cookies reported feeling noticeably better. Their average depression scores had dropped by nearly 30%, and their anxiety‑related complaints fell by almost a third. The placebo group, by contrast, showed little change. As the authors put it, “Each [test] score after the [Lion’s Mane] intake was significantly lower than that before,” highlighting a real lift in mood and calmness that could not be chalked up to chance. The study concluded: "Our results show that [Lion's Mane] intake has the possibility to reduce depression and anxiety." And while these results came with 2,000 MG of Lion's Mane, Brain Power has 2,500 MG of Lion's Mane!
- One placebo-controlled, double-blind, balanced, crossover study assessed whether acute administration of Ginkgo Biloba had any effect on "speed of attention, accuracy of attention, speed of memory and quality of memory." Subjects received either Ginkgo Biloba at dosages of either 120 MG, 240 MG, or 360 MG, or a matching placebo. They then gave the subjects a cognitive assessment immediately prior to dosing and at 1, 2.5, 4 and 6 hours after. According to the study: " Compared with the placebo, administration of Ginkgo produced a number of significant changes on the performance measures. The most striking of these was a dose-dependent improvement of the 'speed of attention' factor following both 240 mg and 360 mg of the extract, which was evident at 2.5 [hours] and was still present at 6 [hours]." The study concluded that Ginkgo Biloba is "capable of producing sustained improvement in attention in healthy young volunteers." The strongest results were achieved at 360 MG, the same exact dose included in Brain Power!

One randomized, placebo-controlled study gave 80 healthy college students 2,000 MG of L-Tyrosine, another compound, or a placebo 40 minutes before a complex mental-stress protocol: including a virtual reality active shooter drill, Stroop tests, and mental math tests. According to the researchers, “the L-tyrosine treatment demonstrated significantly lower missed responses compared to the placebo treatment group during the Stroop challenge,” showing a clear edge in sustained attention and alertness. They conclude that even at this everyday dose, L-Tyrosine “may impact cognitive performance,” allowing users to ensure accuracy while under duress. This study saw such results with 2,000 MG of L-Tyrosine, the same amount included in Genius Potion!
